Winter Session Classes

Monday & Wednesday ages 8-10

It’s My City with Michelle: Use an exciting mixture of art media, like drawing, printmaking, painting, digital photography, and audio recording as you share what you think about your city and how we can work towards a better future.

Hip Hop Dance Studio with Saulo: A talented, professional hip hop dancer will work with you and your classmates to learn the basics, master some brand new moves, and create a unique, high energy hip hop routine to perform for your friends and family

Monday & Wednesday ages 11-14

Music Video with Kourtnie Work to create original beats and lyrics using midi keyboards and Garageband, and then create a video to go with your music! You’ll use animation, as well as green screen special effects to create your music video.  

Art as Activism with Jess Use printmaking, illustration and zine making to explore who you are and how you can use your art to create social justice messages.

Tuesday & Thursday ages 8-10

Fabric Studio! with Sandra In this class you will play with fabric dyeing, weaving, embroidery and sewing! You’ll go on adventures to the RISD museum to get inspiration for your final t-shirt design.

Clay Studio with Heidi Create cups, bowls, clay tiles, sculptures and much more! Use clay to turn your ideas into amazing one of a kind objects that will last forever.

Tuesday & Thursday ages 11-14

DIY Wearable Art 11-14 with Michelle Create your own, unique wearable art and accessories! Create one of a kind items that represent your personal style using fabric, printmaking, and drawing. Learn professional skills from visiting local DIY artists and shop owners.

Comics and Social Justice with Javier Use comics to create unique messages for social justice and equality. Learn about the importance of having people of color and girls in comics, and how to use stories about superheroes, mutants, villains, and others to fight against injustices!

Fridays ages 8-14

RISD Fridays Work with college students from RISD college to create a variety of visual arts masterpieces! 

 

 

Classes are offered Mondays through Fridays from 4-5:30pm for students ages 8-14. If classes are full, CityArts also offers classes at the Boys and Girls Club and the Providence After School Alliance. For information, contact nika@providencecityarts.org
